Dog Behaviourist

Colin Spender has over 30 years’ experience of working and training with dogs, having developed his skills, techniques and understanding of dogs primarily within the British Police Service. Colin is a Home Office Qualified & Accredited Police Dog Instructor (H Dip PDI). He retired from the police service in September 2015 after 30 years exemplary service, 26 years of working and training police dogs.

Colin is an expert witness for Criminal and Civil Court cases involving dog related issues, he is an accredited Dog Legislation Officer (DLO) and recognised by the courts as such, in particular for cases involving banned breeds and dangerous dogs.

Whilst serving as a DLO and since retiring from the police force, Colin has worked on approximately 1,000 dog related cases and has attended both Magistrate and Crown Courts many times to give expert witness evidence covering all areas of dog related cases, from worrying livestock, dangerously out of control in public places, breaches to dog control orders and banned breed ‘type’ dogs.
