Consultant Ophthalmologist, Corneal and Refractive Surgeon
Mr Damian Lake has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist for 16 years in both NHS and private practice, and also has experience working in corporate medicine.
He is an active Consultant Ophthalmologist with a busy medical and medico-legal practice.
Mr Lake's sub specialty expert interests include opinions on refractive surgery (LASIK, LASEK, PRK, Refractive Lens Exchange, Intra Corneal Implants), chronic eye pain, and cataract surgery (including multifocal and toric and presbyopic intraocular lenses) and corneal transplantation including corneal diseases, keratoconus, post LASIK ectasia, dry eye, collagen cross linking, penetrating and lamellar (DSEK, DMEK, DALK) corneal transplants, as well as the systems of donation and transplantation.
He has been consulted in cases of negligent care and poor handling of complications in cataract and refractive surgery.
In addition he could provide a General Ophthalmologist's opinion on all aspects of ophthalmic care if that were the standard of care being sought.
Mr Lake has also been consulted on criminal and personal injury cases.
Mr Lake is familiar with and up to date in Medical Law having completed a Masters degree, LLM in 2022, obtained with Merit from Cardiff University. This has allowed him to understand the nuances of the law and its language.
He has had a medico-legal practice since 2010, and provides approximately 15 reports per year.
Mr Lake can take instructions on behalf of either claimant or defendant or as a Single Joint Expert.
