Data Scientist and Artificial Intelligence Expert

Mr Calum Chalmers is an expert data scientist with over 20 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors, particularly in the financial sector (investment consulting, actuarial and insurance), utilities (water and electric), the NHS, the UK government and the UK defence sector.

Mr Chalmers has an undergraduate degree in pure mathematics from the University of Glasgow, an MSc in mathematics from the University of Warwick and a second MSc in Data Science (with distinction) from the University of Warwick.

As an experienced data scientist, he often consults on cutting-edge (multi-million-dollar) data science projects for world-class academics and data science practitioners, including academics from the University of Berkeley in California. He has advised on international bids for data science projects submitted to NASA, and to the US National Science Foundation. He has also worked on projects with data scientists from the Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence.

Mr Chalmers has previous experience as an investment consultant, advising large corporate clients and pension schemes (£1bn in investments). In addition, he has knowledge of actuarial and insurance models in the financial sector.

He is now a 'Practising Associate of the Academy of Experts' effective from November 2022.
