Matt Haddow 29 490x490

Chartered Accountant

Mr Matthew Haddow is a Partner of Menzies LLP and leads the Forensic Accounting and Valuations Services team at Menzies. He trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with EY in 2009 and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Bath. He is a Member of the Academy of Experts with experience in forensic accounting, commercial disputes, share valuations and leading financial investigations.

Working closely with solicitors, barristers, funders, insolvency practitioners and regulators, he is regularly instructed to prepare reports in matters before arbitral tribunals, the English High Court and other courts. This is usually as an expert witness, but also as a single joint expert, often in connection with valuation or deferred consideration issues. In addition, he acts as an advisor in disputes outside of a formal expert witness instruction, and often pre-litigation. He has also been appointed to undertake expert determinations and to act as shadow expert on such matters.

He has also been appointed as Single Joint Expert and Expert Determiner and works as an independent accountant to those seeking compensation in the Foskett Panel process in respect of claims arising from the HBOS 'Reading' fraud and the Post Office sub postmaster/mistress compensations schemes.

His experience covers many aspects of accounting, valuation and financial matters, including breach-of-contract and loss-of-profits claims, professional negligence claims, minority-shareholder and joint-venture shareholder disputes, and claims arising following mergers and acquisitions and sales of businesses.

Mr Haddow has provided advice about the value of companies in a variety of contexts – for sale or purchase, for financial statement disclosure, and in shareholder disputes, including minority shareholder actions, post-acquisition disputes, expert determinations, loss of profit claims, matrimonial matters and professional negligence claims.

Mr Haddow regularly undertakes fraud and insolvency related investigations. This includes financial investigations for corporate and public sector entities and for insolvency practitioners, as well as part of expert witness instructions.
