David joined Buzzacott in January 2023 and leads the firm’s Valuations team, which specialises in valuing businesses and financial assets.
As an experienced professional in the field, David is frequently asked to opine on complex valuations, including businesses with large multinational group structures or holdings of shares in complex capital structures. His areas of expertise include:
David is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has received certification as an expert witness from Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS). He is familiar with both part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and part 25 of the Family Procedure Rules on Experts and Assessors. David also holds a degree in Economics and Economic History from the University of Bristol and a Graduate Certificate in Corporate Finance from Kaplan Australia.
Prior to joining Buzzacott, David set up and led the in-house specialist Investment Valuations team at the UK’s largest private pension scheme and was responsible for the periodical valuations of its large infrastructure, equity, and credit assets. He has also worked in the specialist valuations teams of two of the UK’s ten largest accountancy firms in BDO and Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners), working on expert witness and other valuation engagements during his time there. David has over 15 years’ experience as a specialist in the field of business valuation overall, including two years working in Australia, and has included engagements with FTSE 100 clients, government bodies, major UK utility companies and large multinationals.
David undertakes expert witness instructions, including the preparation of expert reports and giving evidence in court, in cases relating to business valuations across numerous business sectors.
