Howard A. Jenkins Dip Bldg Cons (RICS) FRICS MAE MPTS is the sole principal of The Howard Jenkins Consultancy, an RICS regulated practice. Before establishing the practice in 2002, Howard had been in partnership with others and since establishment, was senior consultant to a PLC Group for five years. Howard has worked across the country, including extensively in London, in Wales, Scotland and Southern Ireland.
Howard started training as a surveyor 52 years ago and has 44 years post qualification experience, 25 years as an expert advisor and expert witness. This includes appointments in connection with disputes in building construction, the procurement process, contracts, building inspections, defects - their analysis and remediation, interpretation of lease clauses, including the performance of managing agents, dilapidations, conservation, party wall matters and professional performance.
Howard's principle areas of consultancy are now party wall matters, dilapidations and providing expert advisor and expert witness services (as above) for private individuals and commercial claimants and defendants, both as a party appointed and Single Joint Expert. Howard is instructed by local, regional and national firms of solicitors. Howard has been instructed to act as expert advisor and expert witness in some 170 property and construction disputes with values ranging from £20,000 to £100 million.
Howard is a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) prize winner, qualifying in 1981 and becoming a Fellow of the RICS in 1987. Howard sits on the RICS Dispute Resolution Working Group Board, he is an Assessor for the RICS Expert Witness Accreditation Scheme and also is an Scheme accredited expert witness. Howard is a member of the Pyramus and Thisbe Society (for party wall surveyors) and the Dilapidations Association. He is also a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators.
