Nicholas Aitken can take instructions as an expert witness, on behalf of both manufacturers and users of a wide range of industrial and consumer products, in cases relating to electrical and mechanical failure. His specialist areas of expertise include:
- Electronics failure, including integrated circuit, printed circuit board, component and power electronics failures
- Capacitor failures
- Assessment of the impact of operating environment on materials, electrical systems and electronic systems, including the effects of pollution, mechanical and electronic stresses
- Failure analysis and troubleshooting of consumer and industrial electronics and electro-mechanical systems
- Forensic investigation and analysis of electrical and electronic fires
- Safety and compliance of electrical products
Mr Aitken has over 15 years’ experience working in the development of scientific equipment, instrumentation and semiconductor processes.
