Andrew Kotas is a steel industry consultant with a strong international track record in strategy, iron and steel sector feasibility studies, due diligence, investment, modernisation and turnaround consulting. This experience includes all areas of steel production, including raw material preparation, ironmaking, liquid steelmaking, casting and rolling.
Andrew’s understanding covers semi-finished steel (billet and slab) as well as flat and long products (plate, hot rolled steel coil, galvanised sheet, rebar, wire rod) and tube (both seamless and welded pipe).
Andrew specialises in market-related expert witness work, especially price-related issues. His expert witness involvement includes quantum of damage determinations relating to corrosion, specification issues, and raw material and/or steel product non-delivery.
He has wide experience of commercial disputes and arbitrations concerning pricing, delivery terms, cargo transport, contract performance and product valuation for insurance or compensation purposes.
Andrew also runs the MetalExpertWitness service, which provides expert witness litigation support for non-ferrous metals. These services cover aluminium, cobalt, copper, gold, lead, lithium, molybdenum, nickel, silver, tantalum, tin, tungsten, zinc, and platinum group metals (PGMs) including ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum.
Andrew is also Managing Director of Metals Consulting International.
