Consultant Gastroenterologist
Dr Jin-Yong Kang qualified in medicine from Birmingham University in 1973 and trained in Birmingham and Sydney. He was Consultant Gastroenterologist and then Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist at St George’s Hospital, London from 1999 to 2021 and Visiting Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore from 2012-2018.
Dr Kang has practised gastroenterology for more than 45 years. He has retired from clinical practice but continues with medico-legal work.
He has provided medico-legal reports for personal injury and medical negligence cases since 2004 in all aspects of gastroenterology and can act on behalf of either claimant, defendant or as a Joint Expert. He is able to compile reports promptly, often within two weeks.
His areas of expertise include GI cancers, endoscopy, oesophageal and gastric diseases, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome and colonic diverticular disease
Dr Kang has written more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals including co-authorship of the current British guidelines for Barrett's oesophagus.
