Consultant Neurosurgeon
Professor Paul Brennan is Professor of Clinical and Experimental Neurosurgery at the University of Edinburgh. He is a consultant neurosurgeon and clinical director of neurosurgery at NHS Lothian, Edinburgh.
Professor Brennan provides expert reports for clinical negligence, personal injury claims, and criminal cases across the range of general elective and emergency adult neurosurgical practice. He has received instructions from solicitors across the UK, and internationally, from litigants, prosecutors and the defence. He has worked with the Procurator Fiscal, and is on the National Crime Agency expert witness register. Professor Brennan has experience attending court.

Professor Brennan enrolled on the Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate through the University of Aberdeen. This includes four days of training in Excellence in Report Writing, Courtroom Skills, Cross Examination and Law and Procedure. He attended Inspire MediLaw’s two day Expert Witness Training (Dec 2018) which is accredited by the Royal Society of Medicine.
Professor Brennan understands the need to provide a high-quality report expeditiously. He will agree to time scales at the time of receiving an instruction and aims to have most reports completed within 4 weeks of receipt of the necessary clinical documentation.
