Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
As a senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Mr Nicholas Morris has been involved in providing expert reports or assessing clinical risk for over 15 years. He attends the Medico-Legal Society meetings and AVMA conferences and writes legal reports as well as giving evidence and working as a single joint expert. He has established educational training in reporting for the Independent Doctors Federation.
Mr Morris was responsible for the re-writing of the Female Genital Mutilation Act in 2003 and has published articles about Female Genital Mutilation in the Medico-Legal Journal, Clinical Risk and in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
He is member of the Expert Witness Institute an AVMA panellist and is on the MPS Panel for the UK and Ireland. Mr Morris has acted as an Expert Witness for West London and Southwark and Maidstone Coroner's Courts. He has prepared reports for civil, court of protection and he criminal court.
His reports are approximately 2/3 Claimant and 1/3 Defence. His areas of expertise include specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology which is related to his medical practice.
Mr Morris is a nationally recognised expert on hypertension in pregnancy and on female genital mutilation. He was the defence expert in the recent Bristol FGM trial in February 2018, and subsequently a murder trial in Birmingham in November 2018. He acts as a mentor for other Gynaecologists who have a medico-legal practice.
