A director of Central Wealth Planning Ltd, Dr Ian Smith is both a Chartered and Certified Financial Planner and is the regional manager for the Institute of Financial Planning. He has won several awards including being the FT Pensions Adviser of the Year three times and has appeared on television and radio.
He can act as an expert witness, including the preparation of expert reports and appearing in court, in cases relating to all aspects of regulated financial advice, especially pensions and investments, including pension transfers and self-invested pension arrangements.
As well as working in the financial sector and academic work, Dr Smith has worked for the Pensions Ombudsman Service for many years.
In one of the largest fraud cases in UK history his expert knowledge was instrumental in the defence deciding to enter a guilty plea rather than proceeding with a defence.
