Consultant Urogynaecologist
Mr Rufus Cartwright is a Consultant Urogynaecologist based in London, with over 20 years of experience in a wide range of gynaecological treatments and procedures. His areas of interest include incontinence, prolapse, birth injuries, pelvic floor reconstruction surgery, gender affirmation surgery urinary tract infection, mesh surgery and management of prolapse.
Mr Cartwright qualified with an MA from Cambridge in 1998, obtaining his MBBS from University College London in 2001, before going on to achieve his research MD from King’s College London and a PhD from Imperial College London.
Mr Cartwright's current NHS practice is at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital with private practice at 132 Harley St and Cromwell Hospital.
He undertakes expert witness instructions, including the preparation of medico legal reports and giving evidence in court, in clinical negligence cases relating to all of these areas of expertise.
Mr Cartwright can act on behalf of either claimant or defendant or as a Single Joint Expert.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Cartwright has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed scientific publications, including multiple publications on birth injuries, mesh complications, labioplasty, and the epidemiology of pelvic floor problems. He is also an editor of the International Urogynecology Journal. He sits on the Scientific Committees for the International Urogynecological Association, the European Professional Association for Transgender Health, and the Wellbeing of Women charity.
