Professor Michael Perry is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who is on the GMC Specialist list in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is registered with both the GMC and the GDC. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has previously been listed in The Times Magazine as one of the country's top 50 surgeons.

Clinical experience

Professor Perry has extensive experience in the management of diseases of the face, jaws and mouth, with particular expertise in the management of craniofacial trauma, facial deformity, orbital surgery and skin cancer. He also sees and treats other diseases of the mouth, neck, temporomandibular joint, salivary glands and teeth. 

Professor Perry has over 25 years hands-on experience in the management of facial injuries of all kinds (both facial fractures and facial lacerations) and is the clinical lead in facial trauma at both the regional maxillofacial unit and major trauma centre serving the North West of London.

Medicolegal experience

From a medicolegal perspective, Professor Perry has considerable experience in clinical negligence and personal injury cases and currently receives instruction regularly from several national law firms and MROs. He is available to provide written reports, either desktop, or following consultation with the injured party. Remote assessments and Domiciliary assessments are also available

Areas of opinion include:

  • Facial injuries (facial trauma / maxillofacial trauma), including injuries to the jaws, cheeks, nose, and orbits (eye sockets).
  • Scars / scarring (head and neck only)

Also available for clinical negligence reports involving:

  • Dento-alveolar surgery / Oral surgery (including buried teeth, wisdom teeth, cysts)
  • Rhinoplasty
  • Cheek / jaw implants
  • Jaw joint (Temporomandibular joint - TMJ) problems
  • Jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery)
  • Salivary gland surgery
  • Skin cancer (head and neck only)
  • Oral medicine (ulcers, patches, diagnosis of cancer)
  • Facial pain diagnosis and management

Professor Perry is happy to act on behalf of either claimant or defendant or as a Single Joint Expert. Current spilt is around 60% / 38%/ 2% (C/D/J). All reports are for the Courts.

Currently @ 80 - 100 reports annually

Professor Perry only undertakes one report at a time. Therefore all medical records and imaging must be available prior to allocation of appointments. This enables quick turnaround, with appointments typically offered within 4-6 weeks of receipt of records and reports issued 3 - 5 days following assessment of the claimant.
