Gabriel Pierazzini has worked in the construction industry, specialising in building envelope/façades, for 40 years in a large variety of roles for different kinds of organisations, ranging from specialist contractors to consultant engineers, main contractors and property developers.

He has worked on international projects in several countries across four continents; his experience is well balanced across design, procurement, project management, construction management and contract management.

As part of his work, Gabriel has been regularly involved in the investigation and resolution of façade failures, as well as in the negotiation of claims and resolution of disputes, ranging from design issues, construction quality issues, delays, contract variations and negotiation of final accounts.

Gabriel specialises in the following façade types:

• • Bespoke unitised curtain walling
• • Standard and bespoke stick curtain wall systems
• • Glazed rooflights, atrium glazed roofs
• • Steel and glass structures
• • Architectural precast concrete façades
• • Metal, natural stone, terracotta and rainscreen façade systems

Gabriel is a Fellow of the Society of Façade Engineering, where he sits as Vice Chair of the Technical Committee, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building. Gabriel has recently obtained an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King's College London and has attained Fellowship at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

He undertakes expert witness instructions in cases related to:

• Façade design, performance requirements and construction detailing
• Construction methodologies and execution onsite
• Façade failures
• Commercial disputes concerning façades, including quantum, scope, delay, design and/or fabrication/construction defects
