Heart Research UK Heart Research UK is a charity that funds pioneering medical research and community health projects to prevent, treat and cure heart diseases. Every five minutes, someone dies from heart diseases in the UK. It’s likely that heart diseases will impact your life one day, if it hasn’t already. Coronary heart disease is one of the UK’s single biggest killers with twice as many women dying from coronary heart disease than from breast cancer and nearly four times as many men as prostate cancer. We need to tackle this problem head on. And we need to start today. Your donations fund lifesaving medical research to find new treatments and cures, and support people across the UK to keep their hearts healthy. Heart Research UK knows that research works and will deliver new treatments and cures in the future. But this will take significant investment, effort, and time. When Heart Research UK was founded over 50 years ago, more than 70% of heart attacks were fatal, but today at least 70% of people survive. Despite these great achievements there is still so far to go to prevent, treat and cure heart disease. Heart Research UK know they can do more, but they need your help. Until there are no more deaths from heart diseases. Visit Heart Research UK’s website, email This email address is being protected from spambots. The Pain Relief Foundation The Pain Relief Foundation is a UK charity which funds research into the causes and treatment of human chronic pain and is concerned with education of health professionals about pain management. Chronic pain remains one of the last unconquered frontiers of medicine. It is defined as pain that lasts for three months or longer. It can include conditions such as arthritis, cancer pain, neuralgia, shingles, diabetic neuropathy, painful strokes, pain following limb amputation (phantom limb), complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), back pain and headaches. It is the silent epidemic because it isn't as visible or as measurable as other conditions – despite the fact that it can have a devastating impact on quality of life; we hope to change this. The Research Institute has no official funding from the N.H.S. or any other government body and thus relies entirely on charitable contributions and fund raising. Support to provide the funds for the continuing the innovative work of the Institute is vital and any help given is much appreciated.
