Dr Peter H Winocour is a senior consultant in general medicine, diabetes and endocrinology, a post he has held since 1993.
He has extensive experience in all these broad areas of medicine with particular expertise in diabetes and cardiovascular, renal, foot and eye complications, lipid disorders, and metabolic bone disease including parathyroid and osteoporotic disease.
In addition, Dr Winocour has wide experience in endocrinology, notably thyroid, gonadal, adrenal and pituitary disease
Dr Winocour has undertaken medico-legal work since 2000 and currently provides up to 50 case reports a year including medical negligence, life expectancy, criminal and employment tribunal work. He currently provides advice to the Heath Service Ombudsman in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on his specialist areas. He has also supported claims brought to the NHS Ombudsman over the past 6 years.
Dr Winocour has considerable experience in clinical and operational research and has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers. Most recently (2016-2019) he has led the production of national guidelines for the management of diabetes and kidney disease.
