Internet users face crackdown on illegal filesharing

Dance music label Ministry of Sound have issued thousands of letters to people who they believe have been illegally downloading their material. Solicitors have issed letters asking for compensation between £350 and £1250.

The record label says they are willing to take those who do not respond to their letters to court.

The company is using dowloading data as evidence that individuals were dowloading music from file sharing websites such as uTorrent. None of the cases have ended up in court as of yet.

The action comes as a result of companies worldwide losing revenue from sales to illegal downloading, and follows on similar actions in Germany, were several cases were won.
